Heat waves, and boxes, and scorpions...oh my!!

Good gravy, I've been up to my ears in cardboard the past week.

We got the cat tee tee replaced and thus began the big move in. I don't recommend doing it when it's 110 outside. I must've lost 10 pounds.

We are loving the Valley of the Sun and fully know why they call it that now. It's hot, people. Hot tub hot. I'm not in any way complaining, though. I love the heat. I love the desert.

I did not love the scorpion boldly sitting on my kitchen floor two mornings ago. They are as unpredictable in their movements as birds or mice and have thus earned themselves a personality. They are also very mean.

I swept it into a dust pan that (thankfully) closes once you lift it up off the floor. It thrashed wildly in that dustpan and we all screamed. Well, PB was at work so he didn't scream. He might've though.

Bark Scorpion (very poisonous) Pictures, Images and Photos

And so if mice have a French accent, and birds are clearly British, I must say that scorpions must all have Mexican accents. It's absolutely nothing derogatory, just the way I hear them in my head.

Because I'm weird.

When we lived in Florida we had scorpions, and my brother rolled over on one in his bed one day. That was when we invested in some serious pest control, which I recommend to you as a person living in the southwest.

Can't wait to see some pics of this new house, and what you are going to do with it. Please, please, please show us BEFORE pictures. I want to see the transformation.

One of the reasons I will never live in Arizona. (knock on wood) I can barely handle spiders!

Haha! That makes so much sense! And rats, don't they have like a tough New Joisey accent?? (again, no offense intended)

Yeah, that's so not ok....

My father used to spend summers in Texas. He said that the scorpions would crawl on the ceiling and occasionally drop down. In the bedrooms. At night.

I would never sleep again.

Dang scorpions give me the heeby jeebies, but we get more of those frickin' centipedes in my part of the state. If you ever want to come up north a bit to cool off, just let me know! We're not too far away. :)

Well, OF COURSE, they speak with a Mexican accent. And no thanks. I like my nature behind bars, thankyouverymuch.

EEEWWWW ~ I don't think I would've been brave enough to take care of that! I might have trapped it and left it there for my husband!

Oh. My. Gawd. I freak out over American Cockroaches...I would have not only screamed if I saw a Scorpion but would probably have died from heart failure! You're a brave woman. :-)

BTW, I love the phrase "Good, gravy."

Have a lovely weekend ~ Sandy

Yikes! I don't think I would want to see that at all! We have palmetto bugs here in Florida but scorpions I have never (thankfully) seen. We did start pest control yesterday though...I hate bugs! Oh and yes, I can totally see scorpions talking in a Mexican accent....

Yikes. Fiesty little suckers, eh?

Ok, I may not be able to come back to your blog until that picture is far enough down the screen that I don't see it.

I.HATE.SCORPIONS. And we have them in South Texas too. YUK!!

Heather said...

Um, I too would love the heat.

The scorpions? Not so much.

Are there any pets who eat scorpions? Our cat has been busy capturing moles and mice and birds; maybe you could find something that likes to catch scorpions.

A Gila monster, maybe? Komodo dragon?

Hmm...

Have fun unpacking. And defrosting your toes :)

Thanks for the laugh!! I needed that this afternoon. I too hate scorpions...held one in my hand once, not by choice, it had crawled onto my sweater. Talk about Heart attack city! You deserve to scream.

angie said...

You mean you didn't enjoy it as a culinary delight? I hear they are all the rage where it's hot, hot, hot. :)

I absolutely, positively feel for you right now......I have LOADS of cardboard that will never fit in my recycling bins.

Um...yeah. Gross. I screamed and I'm thousands of miles away from you. Still...I screamed.

I'm thinking roaches are way better than scorpions. I mean, they are both vile and reprehensible, but still.

Be careful. They'll poke your eyes out. And probably quicker than a bird.
***SHUDDER!***

We've been lucky enough to not ever find a scorpion in, out, near or around our house since we've been here. Now that I say that, one will probably cross my path when I hit the send button! I do not do bugs, especially not scorpions! I think God just knows that!

Glad you're getting stuff unpacked and rooms painted! Sherwin Williams is fantastic paint! You will love it so much more than Behr. If you lived on the westside, I could get you your paint at contractor pricing! Sorry, didn't mean to rub it in ;-)

Eew eew eew eew eew!!! I hate scorpions, they freak me out. Sounds like you need to remember to check your shoes before putting them on. ::shudder::
