Awesome. I haven't blogged since May 14th. I feel so good about myself right now.
The thing is...I actually have alot to blog about.
Life in Arizona is good. It's hot, but we have a pool now so that keeps us cool.
That, and my official drink of summer '10...Pina Coladas with Chambord floaters. Delightful. Thanks to Lula and Fred The Bartender at the Desert Grill in Scottsdale. Not to be confused with the Dessert Grill which doesn't exist. But maybe should.
When it's not so hot we like to hike.
Look at that sense of adventure and readiness to tackle the trail!
PB has them enraptured. "Now, girls, this trail is known as The Dutchman's Lost Mine. They say he wanders this very path late at night moaning for his gold. I think this might be one of his spectral footprints right here." We haven't slept in a week.
Here we have a little trail guide warning of the "pokey cactus". It's very important not to trip on a rock and fall onto said "pokey cactus". Which I believe in Latin is "pokius cactius".
Our troops began losing steam and whining in earnest approximately five minutes into our trek. Granted, we WERE making them hike through the desert in June but there was shade intermittently, so we really couldn't grasp what the big deal was.
Finally! We get to the 800 year old Indian Heiroglyphs. It's very neat to be able to touch something that was carved so long ago. Clearly, aliens do exist. Why else would Indians 800 years ago depict them in stone if they didn't?
They also used these cliffs as make-shift hairstyle magazines. Here we have two different styling options. Shave it all off, or grow it into an afro. I think either one would work well in the desert.
We saw this colorful lizard on the hike back to the minivan. Some in our party felt that it's awesomeness surpassed that of the ancient artifacts we'd seen and made it all "worth hiking through the stinkin' desert" to see.
Lizards are a cultural priority to some in our family.
Happy Meals on the way home are a priority to others as is jumping in our pool to cool off.
Why do we ever leave home?

23 Brilliant people's junque:
SO glad to see you back at the top of my Blog list! I've missed your humor! Glad you're enjoying your first summer in the desert. Enjoy that pool! I'm so thankful to have one myself after coming home from running! I dive in with reckless abandon, clothing optional at that point, it's so stinkin' hot, who cares, right? I'm probably scarring my sons for life...
Hi there,
Came here from SITS. I just want to say I really like your header! Lovely. And I hope one day you DO get to be rich and famous :)
Hi Heather, I'm stopping by from SITS and just had to tell you that I geeked out when I read your intro to the FB. You don't find many people who know what Tribbles are, these days. Viva la Star Trek.
And, SITS rocks. Just so you know. :-)
I have missed your witty posts this past month! I need some movie reviews, I want to see that pool and I know you are going to give me an Eclipse review, right?
Hello cracker. I am glad to hear you happy and chipper. I miss you dearly! The girls are getting so big. Have a great day. PS* I need you to post a pic of the finished POOL!
That is one cool lizard!
See the whole time I was looking at your photos I was thinking "I bet there is a rattle snake somewhere in this story..."
I would be way chicken to hike up there!
Glad you all had fun and got to see ancient alien depictions and rockin' hairstyles! =)

I haven't blogged since April something or other either! What's worse is that I haven't visited any blogs since then either!!
I feel like a newbie again...oh the pressure.

LOL! Cute post. Cuter guide. How sweet.
I think Mr. Lizard is very handsome... what a colorful character he is!
Wonderful history lesson, I truly enjoyed the visit with you!
:-)
You had me at pina colada with Chambord. That sounds like an easier way to have the Second Captain (at Duke's on Waikiki).

I found y our Styleboard post a week or two ago and my 17 year old who will be going to school for fashion design, absolutley LOVED it! She was sick at home for several days and played around and made several different style boards. Thanks for blogging about it!
How is it that people leave comments in chinese here? Are these new friends you met since moving to AZ?
Sandy
DESSERT GRILL!
I still say it would be fantastic. Like the pina coladas with Chambord floaters.
And desert treks.
Oh, these pictures make me miss the desert so much more than I usually do. Arizona is so beautiful, and the smell of desert rain is...is...indescribable. To say it smells like Heaven would be an understatement. Great blog!

I wandered over here from SITS which I joined last month. Love it and love getting to read so many wonderful blogs.
Felt at home here after reading the blog about New Orleans (I just moved from that area) and Arizona (that is where I moved to).
I look forward to hikes in the desert photographing colorful lizards.
